If there’s one band you want to see at the festivals this summer, it’s Ellen and the Escapades.
The Leeds-based quintet have been kicking up quite a storm over the past year or two, winning the Q Magazine-affiliated Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition in 2010, and being selected to play the BBC Introducing stages at both Leeds and Reading Festivals back in 2009.
Their elegant and beautiful brand of folk pop is tantalising and fresh, and it’s seen them garner the attention of everyone from Lauren Laverne to Stornoway so far.
The band play a very full festival season this summer, including Green Man Festival and Bestival. They’re also doing a show for me as part of the Norwich Sound & Vision Festival on October 1st, part of which I’m curating through my label – Dustbowl Records. Yes, that was a shameless plug. Buy our records, yeah? Please?
