The wait is almost over. It’s been a long time since anyone last heard from These Furrows [Facebook/Twitter] – their last single was ‘Duke’, released all the way back in May of last year. Since then, they’ve been away. Away doing what, you may ask. Well, I think as good an excuse as any is the fact that they now have their debut album in the can. Treasures is done and dusted, and is set for release in June. There will be another single to come before the album is released, but for now, help yourself to a free download of No Invitation, No Welcome. The song is possibly the most immediate thing they’ve written so far, and covers one hell of a lot of ground in four-and-a-half minutes, starting life sounding like a heavier Tubelord, before moving into a lengthy instrumental passage and coming out the other side of it as a waltz-time pop-rock song. It’s the kind of song that isn’t for those with short attention spans, and comes across as extremely refreshing. It’s released on March 26th, backed by b-side 3.16 – though if it were up to me I would have called it like I saw it and released them both as a double A-side. They’re certainly as good as each other. What other treasures will the album have in store?
