This band has been on and off my radar for the past year now, they are somewhat sporadic with news and releases and it seems Patterns (Facebook/Twitter) are a band that likes to keep their fans waiting. Their debut EP New Noise was released December 2010 and their first single Intro followed suit in November last year. Now nearly 9 months later the band have rewarded our patience with their second single Blood released this week (9th July) on Melodic records.
Modestly recorded in the bands shared flat, the Manchester foursome have crafted up a hew of blissed out dream pop. The song peaks and troughs in depth through out as the brooding percussion hollows out a droning vibe over the melodic harmonies. It’s a song with many levels, the chimes of synth and radiant drawn out vocals give the song its graceful coating; shedding some light on the darkness.
The band are currently in the process of writing and recording a debut album but like I mentioned before this band is in no rush and it wont be released in until January next year. This break in-between releases could be down to the natural inclination of perfection that this band wants to portray, but it seems already that they have refined a unique signature sound, until then though I would keep an eye on this band and everything that have to offer.
I also highly recommend checking out the B side to the single by fellow mancunians No Ceremony /// who have conjured up an intense remix of Blood.
