It was around this time last year that we were introduced to a scrawny 18 year old kid from Nottingham called Jake Bugg. His nostalgic twany guitar pop generated a mass surge of interest and positive reviews from the music press. His influence lay in the heart and sound of 1960’s garage rock soul and the east coast folk stylising of Bob Dylan. I now want to introduce you to a man named Ian Lipson(Facebook/Twitter). Hailing from the sunny dwellings of San Diego California comes the impressive tangled vocals of this charming singer/song writer. A talented young man who’s music is as cheerful and pleasant as the California weather of his hometown. Like Bugg his music’s is abundant with the essence of time armed with nothing but a guitar and a bright spirit what this 21 year old may lack in years he makes up for with his auditory aesthetics.
He may only be legal enough to buy a round in the pub but his Dylanesque vocal range and sense of reminiscence connotes a man of experience and adventure. His folky blues rock is stripped down to its raw centre while at the same time has fun and fresh feeling filled with adolescent enthusiasm.
