The grungy patterned slow jam’s of The Magic Gang where first introduced back in March last year. Their subtly pensive track “Bruise”s was crammed with subversive slacker melancholy and made Magic Gang one of my bands to watch.
Since then it seems that all eyes have been on them. Their kaleidoscopic spell has cast its shimmering power over the masses. Once an enigma of fruitful slow burn fuzzy guitars now they have MJ of Hookworms helping out in the production studio.
Magic Gang’s latest single “Shallow” is another solid loose groove. Gangly guitars chime their way trough the adolescent and wallowing self conscious of this track, the vocals are as ripped as a pair of distressed bleached jeans and the melody hooks are a rhythm entrapment.
News has it that a début album is due for release this year quite a turn around for 9 months.
