One of the bands that blasted into my inbox this year are a band with an unavoidable vigour of energy so strong I couldn’t ignore what they had to offer.
Louisville’s White Reaper aptly blend garage rock and dynamic enthusiasm with a harsh but boisterous “I don’t gibe a damn” attitude. They tick every box that a raw and edgy guitar band should be and fulfil my need for something loud and rambunctious to listen to.
The trio formed of Tony Esposito (vocals/guitar) and twin brothers Nick (drums) and Sam Wilkerson (bass) burst onto the scene with their first single Conspirator last year, a track filled with wild guitar surges and tight hooks that caught the attention of record label Polyvinyl who quickly signed them up to the rooster recently. Their self titled debut EP is set for release later next month is just as robust as you would expect. Along with the fuzzed up Conspirator tracks Cool and Half Bad are psychedelic hooky binges of rock and roll velocity with the rest of this EP following in fast and furious pursuit . This band hard energy make them the guitar bands to look out for in 2014.
