We are hugely privileged to be able to share with you the sublime debut single from multi-talented composer, producer and filmmaker Caspar Leopard – Expire Pt I.
Leopard has been on a creative journey over the last few years, where he has found success with various movies and film score projects. It was whilst composing material for these movies that he came to the realisation that some of these tracks had taken on a more personal, autobiographical essence, and deserved to stand on their own.
To help bring these melodious stories to life, the London-based artist enlisted the help of producer Luke Smith (Clor, Depeche Mode, Foals) and his brother Orlando Leopard (Arthur Beatrice, Florence & The Machine, Thurston Moore). Working at the Leopard brothers own No.1 Baltic Place recording studio in east London, the trio have crafted a series of tracks that will make up Leopards eponymous debut EP, which is due out next year.
Expire Pt I is the first single from those recordings and is two and a half minutes of self-reflection and discovery, with Leopard’s soothing vocals offering calm above the subtle storm of electronica brewing and building below.
Discussing the track, Leopard explained how it came into existence:
“I wrote Expire Pt I during a dip on the wave through life. The song came quicker than most and captured a moment of reflection. Not only at my own process but a snap shot of the world around me. Brexit looming, media shouting negative news in every direction, a huge wall of noise online. This song is about finding calm within this maelstrom and connecting to the simple things in life. It’s easy to forget what really matters when you’re frantically clawing your way up the ladder, striving for ‘success’.”
