Walrus favourite Jade Hopcroft has been locked away for the most part of this year writing five new tracks for her upcoming EP, and we’re lucky enough to have the premiere of the first track from that in Rust.
It’s the emotive beauty that we have come to expect from Jade, with her voice reminding me a little of Dolores O’Riordan from The Cranberries, all layered above piano chords and subtle strings. A pop delight, and you can grab it as a free download right now.
Jade tried out some of the new material last weekend at a gig with Matt Corby in a flat just round the corner from Walrus Towers last weekend, that was a huge success by all accounts. Typical that I’m away for the weekend, and we get some great music round the corner. Sigh.
Jade’s next gig will be at the consistently fantastic To Kill A King curated Play All The Things on 30th July at the Old Queen’s head – so get down to that.
